Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide skilled nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting on a 55-bed unit serving primarily adult patients with occasional pediatric cases (ages 15 and older). This contract opportunity is based in Bellevue, NE, within a specialized 4th Floor East Wing unit focusing on patients with conditions such as CVA, TIA, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and neurological concerns.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver comprehensive patient care aligned with PCU protocols, including monitoring telemetry and managing PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin infusions.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical and occupational therapists to optimize patient outcomes.
* Maintain strict adherence to facility and unit-specific policies, including crisis protocols and infection prevention.
* Participate in daily patient rounding and ensure prompt responsiveness to patient needs.
* Meet competency standards via an open-book skills exam administered during orientation, requiring a minimum 90% pass rate.
* Adhere to specific appearance policies such as navy-blue scrubs and prohibition of artificial nails.
* Float to Medical-Surgical areas as needed based on staffing demands.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
* Current RN license with experience in Stepdown or PCU nursing.
* Valid drivers license is required to comply with facility radius rules (within 50 miles) and employment restrictions with affiliated healthcare systems.
* ACLS and BLS certification mandatory.
* Competency in telemetry monitoring and use of EPIC electronic medical records.
* Familiarity with Alaris IV infusion pumps.
* Ability to work 12-hour shifts (0630-1830 or 1830-0630) with every other weekend coverage.
* Strong teamwork skills with proven ability to manage unit workflow efficiently in a collaborative environment.
