North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Rheumatology and MSK teams. The post is split 50:50 between rheumatology and musculoskeletal care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high-quality care to patients in outpatient clinics, hydrotherapy, and trauma/orthopaedic wards.
Key Responsibilities
Rheumatology
Manage patients with long-term conditions including Spondyloarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis, connective tissue disorders, and hypermobility syndrome.
Provide therapeutic care, patient education, and self-management strategies.
Run exercise and education groups, participate in Axial Spondyloarthritis annual review clinics, and manage hydrotherapy sessions.
MSK
Assess and treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions referred from GPs, A&E, musculoskeletal interface services, and post-operative pathways.
Mentor Band 5 physiotherapists and below, supervise students, and participate in IST delivery.
General Duties
Develop individualized treatment programs for complex patients.
Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including occupational therapists, psychologists, specialist nurses, and physiotherapy technicians.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Training
Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
HCPC registration
Evidence of regular CPD
Essential Experience
Undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy experience, including MSK outpatient care
Mentoring or supervising experience
Ability to organize and manage own workload
Competent in physiotherapeutic examination and assessment of MSK patients
Desirable Experience
Rheumatology or long-term condition management
Supervision of junior staff and students
Participation in service development and audit
Skills & Knowledge
Confident using IT systems
Knowledge of MSK conditions
Desirable: knowledge of rheumatology, inflammatory and chronic pain conditions, and ability to provide training to staff
