Grade 3 Physiotherapist

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is seeking an experienced Grade 3 Physiotherapist to provide high-quality Primary Contact Physiotherapy services within the Emergency Department. You will independently assess and manage ED patients presenting with soft-tissue injuries, spinal and peripheral joint conditions, fractures, and other acute musculoskeletal presentations.

This role also includes senior responsibilities within the Musculoskeletal Outpatient team, including leadership, clinical supervision, quality improvement activities, and research involvement.

Classification: VB7 – VC1 ($104,135.20–$118,981.20 per annum, pro rata).

Key Responsibilities

Emergency Department Clinical Practice
• Provide primary contact physiotherapy assessment and management for ED patients
• Prioritise and independently manage a broad range of musculoskeletal presentations
• Consult and collaborate closely with ED staff and advanced scope physiotherapists
• Escalate care or refer to medical practitioners when required

Musculoskeletal Outpatient Leadership
• Lead and support the musculoskeletal physiotherapy team
• Supervise junior physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants, and students
• Represent physiotherapy on internal and external committees
• Contribute to advanced scope clinics within operational guidelines

Quality, Research and Education
• Lead research projects and quality improvement activities
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practice, competency frameworks, and credentialing
• Support departmental in-services, supervision structures, and clinical education programs
• Maintain high standards of documentation, statistics, and equipment care

Your Contribution

Essential:
• Minimum seven years post-graduate physiotherapy experience
• Post-graduate qualification in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
• Strong clinical expertise in managing musculoskeletal conditions in acute and outpatient settings
• Demonstrated leadership capability and experience supervising staff and students
• High-level communication skills and proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
• Current AHPRA physiotherapy registration (or eligibility)
