Job Description
UMMS is seeking a PRN Outpatient Physical Therapist to provide high-quality therapy services under general supervision. You will evaluate patient needs, set measurable goals, and implement effective treatment plans in accordance with the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act, professional standards, and departmental guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations using appropriate tests and measurements
Identify functional problems and establish objective, measurable treatment goals
Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and response
Deliver patient-centered care while maintaining privacy and safety
Teach home exercise programs and care techniques to patients and families
Provide CPR and emergency support when needed
Delegate tasks to PTAs, Therapy Aides, and volunteers as appropriate
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and charges accurately and timely
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, conferences, and in-service training
Contribute to quality assurance activities and propose areas for improvement
Communicate effectively with the care team
Provide direction to therapy aides, volunteers, and students
Qualifications
Current Maryland Physical Therapist (PT) license
Current CPR certification
Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles and techniques
Familiarity with orthopedic, neurologic, trauma, and general medical conditions
Ability to safely use therapeutic equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, modalities, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow instructions, document accurately, and work effectively with patients and staff
Knowledge of patient growth and development across the lifespan
Ability to provide care appropriate to various age groups served
