We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to lead hardware development for next-generation medical devices.

In this role, you will own schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, and prototype development from concept through production. You will work closely with firmware, quality, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure designs are reliable, manufacturable, and compliant with regulatory standards.

This role reports to the R&D Chief Engineer.

Travel: Up to 25% (domestic and international)

What You’ll Do

Hardware Development

• Lead schematic design, PCB layout, and component selection using Altium Designer

• Create and manage BOMs

• Support prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, and design revisions

• Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and risk assessments

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with firmware engineers on embedded hardware bring-up and debugging

• Work with QA to support verification and validation activities

• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 design controls and maintain full design traceability

• Support design transfer from development to manufacturing

Sustaining & Support

• Troubleshoot production issues and implement design improvements

• Support product failure investigations and root cause analysis

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and test engineers

• Assist with field return investigations and sustaining engineering activities

Required Experience

• 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in product development

• Experience completing at least two full hardware design cycles (concept through production)

• Strong proficiency in Altium Designer (schematic capture and PCB layout)

• Hands-on experience with prototype bring-up and board-level debugging

• Experience with embedded systems and working knowledge of C/C++

• Familiarity with UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces

Preferred Experience

• Medical device or other regulated industry experience

• Experience working within an ISO 13485 quality management system

• Strong analog and digital circuit design skills

• Experience with DFM/DFA and overseas manufacturing partners

• Familiarity with IEC 60601 and ISO 14971

• Experience supporting verification, validation, and design transfer activities

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
